That's something I haven't done much of for a long time. But behavior modification is what it's all about, I guess! So I went shopping last Monday (after Paul put in his orders and I had my list) and we went out to dinner only once, because we cooked all week! And as you'll see, when Kevin posts last week's results, it was a success.
Paul & I are doing Weight Watcher's Core Plan. That way Paul doesn't have to count points. Here are a couple of things that really helped us:
- I fixed a big salad, so it would last for 3 days, and I hate making salads.
- Paul fixed a big pot of vegetable soup with 4% ground beef in it, which was so tasty and has lasted all week. He's making another pot this week.
- I hard boiled some eggs and peeled them and stored them in a baggie so they would be easy to grab with a piece of fruit when we were on the run (or to take as a "sack lunch" while we sat at the open houses).
- Fruit punch Crystal Lite individual packs helped me bunches to drink the water, but Paul, like Kevin, prefers the flavored Propel.
- I have a yummy (as Lauren would say) treat fashioned after an appetizer my Granny used to fix. But I will post that when I get a picture.
Let's hear from the rest of you boneheads!!! This is a NELSON FAMILY BLOG! The participants are supposed to participate! How else can we know how to help or get help? Good job, ya'll!

I am so proud of you guys! Grocery shopping? Cooking? Who knew!!! This competition is working miracles.
So what is The Core?
Can't wait for the recipes. If I have to eat another piece of chicken I may sabotage Kevin's efforts!!!
Awesome! Keep it up so I can benefit whenever I come home! And I can't wait for this tasty treat!
We had salad every night. Once with albacore tuna on it. And we had BBQ steak, pork chop, or salmon and added a small baked potato here & there with spray butter stuff. Nothing fancy at all. What I need right now is unadulterated food. I'm afraid sauces will get me. There's no bread in the house, either. Can't do it. But Dad is going to try to make stuffing without butter and stuffing mix tomorrow; onions, celery, mushrooms, Pam and brown rice will be stuffed in the bird. The skin and drippings get tossed. We'll see how it turns out. I will have to get more creative as time goes on. But I am hoping for some help, too.
Shauna, will you post your great baked potatoes/fries?
Yes! I need that recipe and the one for the cauliflower!!
